Looking ahead to 2017
This has been, and continues to be, a remarkable year of growth and change for the Foundation as we’ve celebrated 20 years of supporting the Long Beach Public Library. One of the things we do every year is to take stock of where we’ve been over the previous twelve months and look towards what’s to come in the year ahead. For our 21st year, we’re looking forward to exploring new ways of engaging donors and providing more effective programs for the community. Here are some things we’re looking forward to:
- the MobileStudio, taking the technological resources of the makerspace Studios at our Main Library and the Michelle Obama Neighborhood Library and bringing them to our other ten branches throughout the city
- the Grand Literary Society, initiated in November of 2016, providing unique insight into the work of the Foundation to donors who invest $1000 or more each year
- hosting Mayor Garcia’s State of the City in January—an opportunity to frame a new year for our city with the Foundation’s values at the fore
- breaking ground on the New Main Library at Broadway and Pacific as part of the complete revitalization of our downtown Civic Center
We’re excited to share these experiences with you. There’s so much to look forward to, and we’re eager for you to be a part of it!
