On Sunday, June 11, at our 14th annual Grape Expectations fundraising gala, we had the honor of presenting the Library Leadership Award to the Lloyd and Lauretta Dyer Family Foundation. There to accept the award was Larry Dyer, son of Lloyd and Lauretta, and president of their Foundation. Larry and his family have advocated for the Long Beach Public Library for a decade, supporting the Foundation’s work through the Dyer Family Endowment.
We were grieved to learn that Larry Dyer passed away in his home in the early hours of Monday morning, shortly after being recognized for his legacy of generosity on behalf of literacy and education in Long Beach. We are grateful for the privilege of having thanked him and celebrated his family’s legacy on Sunday evening. Through our the Dyer Family Endowment, we are committed to continuing his legacy of strengthening family through literacy and education.
