The Board of Directors of the Long Beach Public Library Foundation is pleased to announce that Kate Azar, a talented and highly experienced specialist in the nonprofit sector, has been selected as Executive Director.
While serving as the Foundation’s Interim Executive Director, Kate provided tremendous value and demonstrated her passion for supporting the Long Beach Public Library Foundation and its mission. We appreciated her enthusiasm, professionalism, and insight, and anticipate that Kate’s leadership will enable the Foundation to make significant improvements in our fund development efforts on behalf of the Library.
Kate brings more than 10 years of nonprofit sector experience to the Foundation, including program and fundraising management, social cause campaign strategy, and co-founding The Olive Tree Initiative, an award-winning, educational nonprofit organization with chapters throughout California. A graduate of UC Irvine, Kate also holds a master’s degree from USC.
“I am honored to have been offered the opportunity to continue my work with the Long Beach Public Library Foundation,” Kate said upon accepting the position. “For the past five months, I have seen how truly dedicated the staff and Board are to promoting literacy and education for all members of the Long Beach community. I have long felt affection for the City of Long Beach and I am excited to continue to build on this Foundation’s work serving the community in our 20th anniversary year and beyond.”
