2021 marks two important anniversaries — the Long Beach Public Library Foundation’s 25th and the Long Beach Public Library’s 125th year of service to the Long Beach community. In 1996, our founders — Margaret Durnin, Bob Kilpatrick, Helena Belisle, and Robert Campbell — formed the Library Foundation to fund enhancements to the Long Beach Public Library. 25 years later, our organization has raised more than $25 million to support technology, programs, and resources at the City’s 12 public libraries as well as online educational resources.
Join our year-long celebration by donating $25 or more to be recognized as a 25th Anniversary Supporter. Your donation is needed now more than ever as we help the Library provide educational tools to thousands of families struggling with the challenges of distance learning and record unemployment. If you choose to set up a quarterly, monthly, or weekly recurring donation during the Library Foundation’s 25th anniversary year, your donations will be matched by an anonymous donor up to a total of $6,000. No matter the size, your gift helps the Library transform lives!
Check out our events calendar to discover the many ways you can celebrate with us including the return of our in-person wine tasting gala, Grape Expectations, on September 19, 2021.
The Library Foundation has partnered with Long Beach’s own award-winning Willmore wine bar to offer a limited edition “Happy Reading” red blend from the Sierra Foothills. You can say “Cheers!” with your specially labeled bottle to celebrate the Library Foundation’s 25th year of service. Half of the profit from every bottle will be donated to the Library Foundation.
