Founded in 1996, the Long Beach Public Library Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization that provides support to the Long Beach Public Library through the procurement of private funds.

The Library Foundation provides support and oversees programs designed to promote literacy, academic success, self-help learning and free access to current technologies. The Library Foundation is not a United Way agency and relies entirely on private gifts from individual donors, corporations, foundations and planned gifts. Click here to see how you can support us.

What's New?
Tickets are now on sale to hear Greg Mortenson, author of our 2009 Long Beach Read Reads One Book selection, Three Cups of Tea. Greg will be speaking on Friday evening, March 6th, at the Carpenter Center on the Cal State Long Beach campus. Click here to purchase tickets!

We are excited to collaborate with the Long Beach Art Council's Smithsonian Week for 2009. Their theme is "Visions/Voices" and dozens of arts events will be taking place alongside our literary events March 6-14th.

Mission
The Long Beach Public Library Foundation raises funds to promote the Long Beach Public Library and to sustain the Family Learning Centers and other literacy and education programs in partnership with the Long Beach community.

Board of Directors
Led by twenty three Directors representing Long Beach's business and community leaders, the Library Foundation has raised more than four million dollars since its inception and has greatly enhanced the visibility of the Long Beach Public Library and all it offers to the citizens of Long Beach and beyond.
